Roman villa at Cavallacci with the portrait of Tiberius Gemellus that was found there.

Roman villa at Cavallacci with the portrait of Tiberius Gemellus that was found there.

The excavation of this villa, which is still under way, has so far revealed quite a lot of masonry structures and rooms with mosaic or polychrome marble floors. Some of the most important finds are the terracotta decorations and the fine marble head portraying Tiberius Gemellus. The villa, which was built towards the end of the republican period, was at its most magnificent during the ruke of Tiberius, through it continued to be inhabited until the 5th cent. A.D.

The numerous finds from the excavation are on display in the Albano Museum.
